5 Activities to Soak Up The Last of the PNW Summer Sunshine
As summer lingers on its final moments, PNW natives are relishing the last moments of late sunsets and warm weather. The most incredible time of year for many is our beautiful summer, and if you’re looking for ways to get the most out of each day until fall, here are a few to get you started:
Enjoy a Boat Tour of the San Juan Islands
Nothing says summer quite like a sail on the Salish Sea (try saying that three times fast!). There are a variety of vendors in the area, so take your pick and get out on the water! The views are magical, and showcase the very best of the PNW island lifestyle.
Take a Ferry Ride to or From Kingston
Whether you’re going out for brunch with family or just embarking on a day of sight-seeing, a ferry ride is one of the most relaxing and beautiful ways to travel. Head on over to the Edmonds waterfront from Kingston, or explore Kingston from the doorstep of Edmonds! Regardless of your starting place, you’re in for a treat at your destination. See the schedule here.
Savor a Sip at Bainbridge Vineyards
Wine tasting is a hallmark activity of the PNW, and some of the best wine can be found over on Bainbridge Island at Bainbridge Vineyards. This establishment prides itself on being both the grower of the grapes, as well as the center for wine making. Tasting is now available with social distancing protocol, and while you’re there, you can browse wines to take home for your next special occasion.
Hike at Ebey’s Landing
When it comes to Whidbey Island, there are many things to enjoy, one of which is a day hike at Ebey’s Landing. Good more those in moderate skill level, this loop trail offers the chance to see wildlife, as well as fantastic views of the water. Learn more from the Washington Trails Association here.
Explore the Bloedel Reserve
Tour the magnificent gardens that will have you mesmerized with their natural beauty. Tickets are available on a timed basis to allow for social distancing and limited capacity.
